Tin Town
In the Northern Region of Oz, there is a town nestled within
the mountaintops known for it’s exquisite inventions and contraptions. Tin Town
is a small colony founded by the two metal working experts Tik and Tok
Tindinger. In an attempt to find a cure
for Tok’s debilitating illness the brothers traveled all throughout Gillikin
Country. One day the duo stumbled upon the husk of an old Tin Dragon that had
died of old age. A Tin Dragon’s body of scales could fuel a workshop for 100’s
of years so the brothers began to build a town around the old tin dragon. Over
time, Tok’s illness worsened and his contributions to the town became less and
less, which frustrated the metal worker to no end. When a traveling wizard
visited the fledgling town, the brothers asked the wizard if he could cure
Tok’s illness. The wizard’s solution was to imbue a metal frame with the soul
of the ill metal worker; this would give Tok a strength he never knew as a
human in addition to restore his ability to work on the town with his brother.
After taking this offer, the brothers would go on to build up their craftsman
town and with the two brothers at the helm, attracted the most skilled metal
workers in all of Oz.
Nowadays, the town stands as a bastion of metal work and
continues to optimize and innovate on behalf of the rest of Oz. People visit
this remote region from all over to request new inventions and see the
ingenuity of the craftsman. The center of the town is the great Tin Tower,
built atop the massive corpse of the expired Tin Dragon that the two brothers
found on their journey. The tower works to harvest and optimize tin taken from
the dragon’s body and distributes that tin to the Tin Town Workshop where
various contraptions are manufactured. An observatory in the mountains coupled
with the smaller observatory within the Tin Palace keep an eye out for incoming
visitors in addition to far away places that their tin contraptions will bring
them to one day. Tin Town houses mostly craftsman who work for the town and
their families in the many domiciles spread throughout the town.
Tin Town is known for many contraptions such as the steam
car, the automated home, and the mechanical dog in addition to their many automatons.
One of the most prolific automatons out of Tin Town was the Tin Woodsman, a tin
man who could chop whole forests by the day.
